Slight Risk for Severe Storms Thursday Afternoon

There is a slight risk of severe weather across eastern Iowa this afternoon.
The National Weather Service says thunderstorms may develop. A cap is in place across most of the area. If the cap breaks as predicted, storms will mainly affect areas east of the Mississippi River. If the cap breaks early (which is unlikely), some severe storms would be possible in far eastern Iowa.
The main threat from any severe storm would be large hail, damaging winds, lightning and tornadoes.
