Operation Christmas Child Hosting Yard Sale Fundraiser

The local Operation Christmas Child program will be hosting a yard sale today in Manchester.
Manchester Methodist Church has been involved with Operation Christmas Child for the past fifteen years. Volunteer Jackie Sherman says it’s a wonderful program in which shoeboxes are filled with small items and sent to children in need across the world.
Most of the items that go into the shoeboxes are donated by the community – but Operation Christmas Child still needs to raise money to help pay for their shipping costs. It costs about $10 to ship one of these boxes outside of the United States, which means a total shipping cost of up to $10,000. They hold fundraisers every month – including bake sales at the church – but today’s fundraiser is one of their largest. It’s the Homemade and Homegrown Sale, taking place right next to Sherman’s Pumpkin Farm in Manchester. And Jackie says they’ll have tons of plants for sale.
In addition to plants, they’ll also be selling locally handmade items.
The Operation Christmas Child Homemade and Homegrown Fundraiser Sale runs today from noon to 6 pm at the Dean and Jackie Sherman’s home at 308 South Wayne Street in Manchester. Donations are also welcome.
