Delaware Co. Public Health Offering Free Measles Vaccination Clinics

To protect the increasing threat of measles, Delaware County Public Health is offering FREE measles vaccination (MMR) clinics to Delaware County residents in early June.

These upcoming clinics address the rise in measles cases within the United States, ensuring Delaware County residents have easy access to essential preventative care.

The free Measles vaccination clinics will be held:

  • Wednesday, June 4th (8 to 10 am)
  • Friday, June 6th (10 am to noon)
  • Delaware County Public Health Office (613 West Main Street, Manchester)

Measles is a serious respiratory illness that can lead to severe complications, especially in young children and those with weakened immune systems.

Public Health Manager Krystal DeShaw says fortunately, there aren’t any cases at this time in Iowa – but there are over nine hundred cases in the United States (significantly more than we were seeing just a year ago when there were around three hundred).

DeShaw says there is one thing that makes Measles stand out from other contagious diseases.

Rash is a distinctive symptom of Measles, which shows up a few days of initial symptoms.

DeShaw says getting vaccinated is highly effective in protecting yourself against Measles.

Appointments are required for the upcoming Measles vaccination clinics. Call Delaware County Public Health at 927-7551 to schedule your appointment or to verify your vaccination status. The FREE vaccination is limited, be sure to book early to secure your preferred time.
