Learning the Fun of Tug of War in Greeley

Memorial Day Weekend is typically a three day weekend of remembrance, bbq’s, camping, and in Greeley…tug of war. The Greeley Power Team hosted a demonstration event for kids and families to learn about the sport. Greeley Power Team coach Dave Kruse talked with KMCH about how this all started.
Over the years, those farmers and their friends built quite a reputation around the globe.
Those three ladies are Katie Kruse, Morgan Neuhaus and Olivia Welsh. Olivia talked about how she got started in the sport.
The US Team will be composed of Welsh, Neuhaus and Kruse, along with a delegation from Minnesota. Welsh says they have been meeting and pulling together since late last year.
Yesterday’s event was a chance for kids and their parents to witness and participate in the sport, pulling the training apparatus and against each other, along with against their parents.
Kruse says the sport has always attracted the younger set.
If you missed the event, or if you’re interested in supporting the Greeley Power Train team, the next big event is coming next week.
In addition to the competition on the 7th, the Greeley Power Team is gearing up for their biggest fundraiser, the Rodeo Chicken stand at the Edgewood Rodeo.
