Injured Driver Fled Scene of Fayette County Crash

An injured driver fled the scene of a crash in Fayette County on Tuesday morning.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says around 7:30 am, they received a 911 call of a pickup truck in the ditch along Highway 150 near 118th Street about three miles south of Fayette.

Further investigation found that the pickup was northbound when it went into the west ditch and into a small creek, sustaining minor damage. It was also reported that the injured driver had fled the scene.

Shortly after the report, deputies were on scene and deployed a drone in the air, which located the driver hiding behind trees. The driver, 58-year old Dale Patrick Winter of West Union, was apprehended. He was found in possession of illegal substances and arrested. Winter faces several charges, including possession of methamphetamine and marijuana (3rd/subsequent), as well as possession with intent to deliver and operating while intoxicated (3rd offense).

Winter was treated for his injuries and transported to the Fayette County Jail.
