Manchester City Council Meeting Recap
Housing Projects, Baum Park Renovations Among Items Discussed

The Manchester City Council met Tuesday night.
The Council approved a resolution of support for a Workforce Development Tax Credit Benefit Application, which is being submitted to the Iowa Economic Development Authority by local developer Wes Schulte. It’s for housing projects at 405 Lincoln Street, 112 South Franklin Street, 501 Grant Street, 121 Meadow Brook Trail, 131 Meadow Brook Trail, 252 Meadow Brook Trail and 258 Meadow Brook Trail. City Manager Tim Vick explains:
The Council also approved an agreement with Metrics Architecture to develop plans to replace the shelter at Baum Park, with services totaling just under $12,000. The shelter was severely damaged in the tornado that moved through Manchester in March 2023. Vick says the plans will include a covered shelter and ADA-compliant restrooms, with work hopefully starting this fall.
The Council also approved a request by the Hartwick Huskys water ski team to install a 12-foot by 100-foot concrete pad at Schram Park, which would serve as their performance stage.
And the Manchester City Council approved a date change for the CMJ Raceway Motorcycle Trials, moving the event from June 14-15 to June 28-29 due to a schedule conflict. They’ve also approved adding two new rider courses, which will be located on the southwest side of the West Marion Street (formerly the Alliant Energy site) and on the south side of Bob Stephen Motors storage garage.
