City of Manchester Kicking Off ‘Music on the Maquoketa’

The City of Manchester is kicking off their summer music series, ‘Music on the Maquoketa’, tonight.
Mayor Connie Behnken says they’ll be welcoming The Detour Band, who will be playing from 6 to 9 pm at the Riverfront Park amphitheater right off West Main Street next to the Whitewater Park.
The City has been hosting ‘Music on the Maquoketa’ in Manchester for several years now, giving the community a chance to enjoy live music in a relaxing environment next to the Maquoketa River on the first Thursday night of each month during the summer. Bring your lawn chairs – the event is free. Behnken says everyone is welcome to bring in food from one of the local restaurants or you can treat yourself to one of the food trucks that will be on hand.
‘Music on the Maquoketa’ will continue with a performance from Walking Molly on July 3rd and they’ll bring back one of last year’s bands to wrap up the summer music series on August 7th.
‘Music on the Maquoketa’ also serves as the kickoff to Manchester River Days, which will continue into Friday night with the Friday Night Farmers Market from 5 to 8 pm, the Country Cruisers’ Show ‘n Shine car show from 5 to 9 pm, the Rotary Club Beer Tent from 5 to 10:30 pm and live music on South Franklin Street from Mark Zalaznik and Sushi Roll from 5 to 11 pm. River Days wraps up on Saturday with the Vendor Fair and Kids Zone from 10 to 2 at Riverfront Park and F&M Bank’s 100th Anniversary Block Party on South Franklin Street with the Cash Cube from 6 to 7 pm and a concert by Not Quite Brothers from 7 to 9 pm. We’ll tell you more about River Days and F&M’s Block Party during tomorrow’s KMCH Local News.
