KMCH SPORTS: Results from Monday 6/9

High School Softball and Baseball from last night:

SOFTBALL-

Class 3A 14th-ranked West Delaware was swept at home by 4A #8 Clear Creek-Amana, falling 6-3 in game one. A valiant comeback in the nightcap but their rally fell short losing 11-10.

Independence was taken down twice by Benton Community, 7-6 and 8-0.

Ed-Co split with Bellevue Marquette Catholic, dropping game one 4-0 and winning the second 10-6.

Starmont lost both to Calamus-Wheatland 10-2 and 7-6.

North Linn took down Midland 9-1 and 17-0.

East Buchanan lost both to Springville 9-5 and 8-7.

Monticello was edged by West Branch 11-9 in 8 innings.

Anamosa was blanked by Jesup 5-0.

BASEBALL-

The Hawks of West Delaware were able to hold off 3A #13 CC-A in the first tilt 11-9. Game 2 a different story and the Clippers won handily 13-2. Independence swept by Benton Community 2-0 and 10-8.

Maquoketa Valley and East Buchanan split in Winthrop, Wildcats won 9-3 then the Bucs were victorious 5-4.

Starmont swept Springville 13-1 and 21-5.

North Linn over Ed-Co 10-0 and 18-1.

Beckman Catholic lost to Waverly-Shell Rock 9-4.

Monticello held on to beat West Branch 10-8.

Cascade defeated Jesup 8-6.

Western Dubuque split with Northeast in Gooselake, winning 3-1 and losing 2-1.
