In coverage area Baseball and Softball last night:

BASEBALL-

West Delaware swept Vinton-Shellsburg, 17-2 in 6 innings and 11-1 in 5.

Ed-Co thumped North Cedar 18-5.

East Buchanan topped Midland 8-1.

Starmont shutout Calamus-Wheatland 5-0.

Maquoketa Valley fell to Bellevue Marquette Catholic 5-0

North Linn thumped Lisbon 19-7

Anamosa was swept by Northeast 12-3 and 12-8.

Monticello split with Camanche, winning 13-10 before falling 9-6.

Cascade and Beckman Catholic split, Cougars took game 1, 6-1. The Blazers came back and won the nightcap 9-5.

Western Dubuque was roughed up by Bettendorf 15-0.

SOFTBALL-

Ed-Co swept Springville 9-1 and 6-5.

Maquoketa Valley took two from North Linn in upset fashion 3-0 and 7-4.

Starmont fell to Alburnett 11-0 and 3-1.

Beckman Catholic upset Cascade twice, 5-4 and 4-0.

Today the 39th annual West Delaware Softball Invite begins at 9am at the Beckman Sports Complex in Manchester. It features 8 coverage area schools and 7 ranked teams. KMCH Sports Video Stream coverage begins with game one featuring Cascade taking on Waukon. West Delaware and Monticello will tangle at 10:45am. Beckman Catholic and Ed-Co will face-off at 12:30pm.

Other coverage area teams’ first round games include Western Dubuque takeing on Kee High at 10:45am, At 12:30 – North Linn and MFL MarMac play and Independence goes up against Dubuque Wahlert Catholic.
