Torrential Rainfall Across Eastern Iowa on Monday Night

Monday night’s storms dropped some torrential rainfall across eastern Iowa.

Several listeners shared unofficial rainfall reports with KMCH. We received two reports of three-point-five inches of rain in Manchester. Nearly three inches in Dyersville and Epworth, two inches in Earlville, Hopkinton and Lake Delhi, and one-point-25 inches in Central City.

Power outages were also reported in the Dyersville and Petersburg areas on Monday night.

Two Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were issued for portions of Buchanan and Linn counties, with 60 mile per hour wind gusts the main threat – however, no storm reports were received by the National Weather Service.

The line of storms has brought some relief from the extreme heat and humidity eastern Iowa has been experiencing the past few days. Forecasters say temperatures will rise again into the upper 80s to near 90 again later this week into the weekend, with more chances for showers and storms.
