Bicyclist Dies in Car-Bike Accident Sunday Morning in Fayette County

A tragic accident in Fayette County yesterday morning has killed a bicyclist. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident occurred around 10:15 yesterday morning on Juniper Road near the Kitty Rd intersection. 72-year old Steven Steinberg of Ossian was driving Southbound on Juniper in his minivan when he struck a bicycle rider, who was also traveling southbound on Juniper. The bike rider, identified as 76-years old and from West Union, was declared dead at the scene. Their name has been withheld until the notification of family. The crash remains under investigation. The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Fayette County Sheriffs office, West Union Police, and West Union Fire.
