Nearly Six Hundred Static 4-H/FFA Exhibits Judged at Delaware County Fair

Seniors End 4-H Career with Purple Ribbon Honors

It was another successful year at the Delaware County Fair for 4-H and FFA exhibits, with a group of seniors saying goodbye to their years showing at the fair.

Delaware County Extension’s County Youth Coordinator Kaitlyn Rausch says nearly six hundred projects were entered this year – and that doesn’t begin to include all the animal exhibits.

Rausch says there are certainly some areas that are trending when it comes to projects, including photography and the larger projects like machinery, furniture and welding.

Kael Gaul of New Vienna, a member of the Petersburg Achievers 4-H Club, brought one of those larger welding projects – a U.S. flag pole standing tall between the 4-H Foodstand and Pavilion. But it’s not your typical flag pole.

Gaul earned a State Fair ribbon for that project – and it’s just one of many unique projects that have earned him top honors over the years.

As a graduating senior, this is his last fair as a 4-Her.

Kendra Lux of Ryan is saying goodbye to her 4-H career too, ending on a good note.

Lux says she’s taking away a lot of good memories.

And her 4-H years at the fair have brought valuable lessons for her future.

The seniors showing swine, beef and goats stepped into the ring for the final time Saturday morning during the annual 4-H/FFA Livestock Sale.
