Vets Honored at Delaware County Fair

As the Delaware County Fair employees resume the cleanup and reflect on the highlights, three new events proved to be highlights of the week. On Thursday, the Fair, along with the Delaware County Veterans Affairs, held a ceremony to thank those men and women who donned a uniform in the armed forces. A part of the ceremony was recognition of several vets for their continued service. Julie Kueter told KMCH that her service comes from a lifetime of admiration of those before her who served.
Harry Ries served from November of 1969 to June 1989. But his love of country and service didn’t end there.
Larry Beaman served more than 20 years in Active Duty and Reserve Duty. When he was coming to attend, he didn’t realize he would be one of the Vets recognized.
Doug Dobroski served as a Marine sniper during the Vietnam era. But he knew that serving was a lifetime commitment.
Other veterans honored but not in attendance included
Bernard “Bernie” Pasker
Bill Williams
And Marvin Waterhouse
As a part of the ceremony, State Senator Dan Zumbach spoke to the attendees, telling a story of a veteran close to him.
Other special events this year were the celebration of Century and Heritage farms on Wednesday, and Hometown Heroes on Friday.
