Great Jones County Fair Introducing New 5K Race

The Great Jones County Fair is hosting a new event this year.

It’s their first ever “Race Around the Fair” 5K and it’s taking place on Saturday morning at the fairgrounds in Monticello. Jacob Oswald with Monticello Parks and Rec says they worked with the fair to get it rolling.

As of Thursday, fifty people were already signed up – Oswald says that’s pretty good numbers for their first year.

He says you can still sign up for the 5K before the race on Saturday morning at the Berndes Center.

Fair ribbons will be awarded to the top three place finishers in each age category.
