The excessive heat and a chance of storms are back as we start off the week.
The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory today from noon to 8 pm. Highs will reach into the low 90s, with heat index readings up to 105.
Forecasters recommend drinking plenty of fluid, staying in air-conditioning, staying out of the sun and checking up on relatives and neighbors.
The Storm Prediction Center has also placed eastern Iowa under a Level 2 out of 5 Slight Risk for severe weather during the overnight hours tonight into early Tuesday morning. Soaking downpours, damaging winds and spin-up tornadoes would be the biggest threat if these storms develop.
The heat and humidity is expected to stick around through Tuesday before cooling off into the 70s the rest of the week into the weekend.
