Five Local Women Competing for Iowa Dairy Princess

Fourteen young women involved within Iowa’s dairy community are competing for the title of 72nd Iowa Dairy Princess tonight.

The coronation ceremony will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Multi-Media Center of the Cattle Barn at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines.

Five young women from the KMCH listening area are among the contestants competing this year for the title of Iowa Dairy Princess:

  • Alia Domeyer of Delhi, representing Delaware County
  • Maleah Demmer of Dundee, representing Delaware County
  • Libby Hageman of New Vienna, representing Dubuque County
  • Bianka Ronnebaum of Earlville, representing the Iowa Ayrshire Association
  • Kaitlyn Besler of Worthington, representing the Iowa Holstein Association

During the two-day contest which kicked off Tuesday, contestants are being judged on their communication skills, professionalism, knowledge and enthusiasm about dairy. The experience also provides valuable networking and leadership development along with scholarship opportunities from Midwest Dairy, which sponsors the contest and princess program on behalf of Iowa’s dairy farmers.

The Iowa Dairy Princess and Alternate serve as year-long spokespersons for Iowa’s dairy community, attending events across the state to connect with consumers and promote dairy.

The outgoing 2024-25 Iowa Dairy Princess is Haley Ronnebaum of Earlville and the Alternate Princess is Harley Baumler of St. Lucas. Their reigns will wrap up at the end of August, and the new Princess and Alternate will begin their duties September 1st.
