Seven Local Women Competing in Iowa State Fair Queen Contest

A new Iowa State Fair Queen will be crowned this weekend – and seven young women from the KMCH listening area are vying for the title.

Over the past few days, around one hundred contestants from across the state have been participating in the competition at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines.

Holly Gudenkauf, who was just crowned the 2025 Delaware County Fair Queen last month, is representing Delaware County in the contest.

Brooke Neying of Anamosa is representing the Great Jones County Fair.

The other local contestants include:

  • Kaydence Zeien representing Buchanan County
  • Alexandria Kent representing Fayette County
  • Mindy Keehner representing Clayton County
  • Kylie Donovan representing Dubuque County
  • Emmalee Kratz representing Linn County

The winner will be crowned by the current Iowa State Fair Queen, Elli Blackford from Clarke County. KMCH had the opportunity to catch up with her while she was visiting the Clayton County Fair last week.

The crowning of the new Iowa State Fair Queen will take place Saturday night at 7 pm.
