Heavy Rainfall Impacts Eastern Iowa Early Sunday

August isn’t typically known for bringing wet weather to eastern Iowa, but several inches of rain fell across the area early Sunday.
The National Weather Service says while some areas saw very little rain, others saw too much rain in a short amount of time. The highest amounts fell in eastern Muscatine, eastern Cedar, and southern Dubuque counties where 3 – 5” amounts were reported.
Two and a half inches was officially recorded in Manchester.
Some portions of eastern Iowa saw flash flooding due to the heavy rains, with many creeks, streams and rivers reaching high levels.
More chances for showers and storms are in the forecast tonight through Tuesday night.
