Semi Driver Killed in a Car-Semi Accident in Dubuque County

The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office reports a car-semi accident yesterday that left one dead. According to the Sheriff’s report, the incident was reported just after 6pm last night as deputies, along with Key West Fire and EMS responded to the accident on Hwy 61 southbound just north of the Buncombe Road. The investigation revealed that a semi driver was pulled over to the side of the road checking and securing his load when another southbound passenger vehicle struck the rear of the semi-trailer and the semi’s driver. The semi driver was declared deceased at the scene while the driver of the passenger vehicle was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated. Traffic on the highway was closed for nearly 2 and a half hours. The names of the parties involved will be released today at 4:00 PM pending family notification.
