City of Manchester Hosting Open House for Landlords

The City of Manchester will be hosting an Open House on Tuesday for landlords owning property within the city limits to provide updates and answer questions regarding a proposed amendment to City Ordinance Chapter 160 – Rental Housing Code.
The proposed ordinance amendment would expand Chapter 160.02.11 to include a new subsection B, prohibiting insect infestations (including bedbugs, fleas, and similar pests) within rental properties.
The proposed subsection would read as follows:
- The dwelling unit and its equipment must be in sanitary condition and free of vermin and rodent infestation.
- The dwelling unit and its equipment must be in sanitary condition and free of insect infestations, including but not limited to bedbugs, fleas, and other pests.
The open house will be held Tuesday, August 19th from 5 to 6 pm at the Manchester City Council Chambers at 204 East Main Street. The City of Manchester encourages all landlords to attend Tuesday night’s session to stay informed about the proposed changes and to share any questions or feedback with City staff.
For questions prior to the open house, or if you are unable to attend, please call 563-927-1116 or tvick@manchester-ia.org.
