Manchester’s Bowling Alley in Midst of Major Remodel

Manchester’s bowling alley is undergoing a major remodel.
Taz Kammiller took over ownership of the business in February, eager to improve the current facility and hoping to remodel it during the summer.
But in July, roofing issues changed those plans – with bigger improvements than originally planned now required. Sue Morris, spokesperson for the bowling alley which is now called “The Alley”, says Kammiller felt it was best to stay in the current location on the east side of Manchester – keeping the current footprint, but building a new structure.
The bowling alley closed for business in early July. Morris says they needed to plan the project around the weather – knowing at some point the bowling lanes would be exposed to the elements. The facility was emptied and, just last week, the roof was removed and the walls came down. The bowling lanes – which are in ideal condition – were covered for protection and will be used in the new building.
Now, they’ve started working on building the new structure, with new footings poured this week.
“The Alley” will have several new features when it re-opens, including:
- Second floor balcony on the bowling side
- New BES X scoring system, which will provide bowling patrons with a state-of-the-art scoring system with gaming options (just another way to bowl, will be fun for families and corporate events)
- Automatic bumpers on all 12 lanes
- New cosmic lighting system
- Larger concourse area
- New and enlarged restrooms
- Expanded arcade
- New bar
- Restaurant will still be on site, with a brand new kitchen
Morris says Kammiller is excited for what this new and improved bowling alley will bring to the Manchester community, including kids and families.
With the cooperation of weather and timelines, “The Alley” hopes to re-open in mid-October.
