Arrest Warrant Issued for Dyersville Man Involved in Motorcycle Pursuit

Authorities are looking for a Dyersville man who faces numerous charges following a motorcycle pursuit.

The pursuit happened this past spring in the Garnavillo area. The Garnavillo Police Department have charged 37-year old Justin Wiedner following a lengthy investigation – but he remains at large, with a warrant issued for his arrest.

On the evening of May 15th, a Clayton County deputy tried initiating a traffic stop on a motorcycle on Highway 18 east of Monona for a speed violation. Wiedner, who was driving the motorcycle, saw the deputy turning around to initiate the stop, but accelerated away at a high rate of speed before the deputy could even attempt the stop. The deputy last saw Wiedner’s motorcycle heading south on Highway 52, with other deputies clocking the motorcycle at speeds of over 100 miles per hour – but they were not able to get the motorcycle to stop.

A Garnavillo police officer intercepted Wiedner’s motorcycle north of the city and tried pulling him over, but Wiedner passed the officer and continued to elude law enforcement. The pursuit entered Garnavillo’s city limits at more than 85 miles per hour in a posted 20 mph speed zone. Garnavillo Police terminated the pursuit out of concern for public safety.

The motorcycle was recovered a short time later, having been abandoned by Wiedner on property south of Garnavillo – which he did not have permission to be on. Authorities searched the area with a K9, but they didn’t find Wiedner – and his motorcycle was impounded for processing.

After a lengthy investigation by Garnavillo Police, Wiedner was charged with Eluding, Trespass, Reckless Driving, Unsafe Passing, Driving on the Wrong Side of a Two-Lane Highway, Speeding, No Valid Driver’s License and No Insurance. He was also charged with Filing a False Report, stemming from Wiedner calling during the investigation to report that his motorcycle had been stolen – which the investigation determined was not true.

Anyone with information on Wiedner’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Garnavillo Police Department or local law enforcement.
