Manchester City Council Meeting Recap

The Manchester City Council met for a short meeting on Monday night.
The City Council approved amending provisions of the Rental Housing Code pertaining to Insect Infestations. It notes that the dwelling unit and its equipment must be in sanitary condition and free of insect infestations, including but not limited to bedbugs, fleas, and other pests.
The City Council also discussed signs in the right-of-way and on public property. Signs in the right-of-way are becoming an issue, including realtor signs and garage sale signs. Any special exceptions would need to come to the City first for approval. The City says signs in the right-of-way will be pulled starting October 1st.
The Council heard from Wyatt’s Warriors Foundation in regards to their 988 Signs of Hope Project. They are hoping to place eight to twelve signs across Manchester – and eventually, every city in Delaware County – to help spread the word about the 988 Suicide and Crisis Hotline. These signs would be located outside of the City’s right-of-way. The Council was supportive of the idea, with the goal now to find appropriate places to place the signage. City Manager Tim Vick says he’ll visit with City staff to identify locations and then bring it back to the Council.
And the City Council approved the hiring of new Manchester police officer Norman Manning, who was sworn in during the meeting on Monday night.
