Sunday Night House Fire in Center Point

Firefighters responded to a house fire in Center Point on Sunday night.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says emergency personnel were dispatched to 900 Maplewood Drive shortly after 7:30 pm for a report of a structure fire. Upon arriving, there was no fire visible to the two-story residence, but there was a reported fire in the kitchen area.

Firefighters worked quickly to bring the fire under control. However, the kitchen area sustained severe damage. The fire was isolated without spreading to the rest of the house.

Everyone was able to get out of the home safely and no one was injured.

The investigation is still ongoing. The Sheriff’s Office says nothing suspicious was observed. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Linn County Sheriff Deputies, Center Point Fire, Center Point Ambulance, Urbana Fire, Walker Fire, Alburnett Fire, and Monroe Fire all assisted at the scene.
