Voters Approve Renewing West Delaware PPEL

Voters in the West Delaware School District headed to the polls on Tuesday to vote on the PPEL, otherwise known as the district’s Physical Plant and Equipment Levy.
The PPEL provides the district with funds that can only be used for infrastructure and equipment repairs, purchases, and improvements. The voter-approved levy has been in place for decades – and it must be renewed every ten years.
On Tuesday, 72% of West Delaware voters approved renewing the PPEL – with 203 voting yes and 78 no. Superintendent Jen Vance:
The levy generated more than $510,000 worth of revenue in the recent fiscal year for the district. Through the years, the funds have been used to upgrade heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, repair roofs, purchase buses and vans, replace computers and hardware, maintain athletic facilities, purchase musical instruments and equipment, and install new signage, among other needs.
West Delaware’s current PPEL rate of $0.67 per $1,000 of taxable property value will remain the same through 2036, which means the renewal will not raise property taxes.
