Supporters Walk 4 Tomorrow

A beautiful day welcomed a large gathering of supporters to Terrill Park Saturday for the Walk 4 Tomorrow, a show of support for the survivors of suicide. Friends and family, wearing purple and teal, came to show support for each other and present a support network for those thinking of suicide. Chris Willey’s son Wyatt took his life in October of 2022. He and his wife Andrea established Wyatt’s Warriors after hearing so many stories of Wyatt’s support of others.
A recent project Wyatt’s Warriors is undertaking is 9-88 signage throughout Delaware County. The intent is to canvas the county with the information someone who is struggling will see and, perhaps, reach out. Chris believes their efforts are making a difference.
Representatives from several agencies were in attendance. Abbie Placke is a mental health therapist with Rise Counseling & Consulting in Manchester.
Karen Schmitz is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with Regional Behavioral Services. She, too, agrees the community should become more involved.
Many times, survivors are left feeling that they didn’t see the signs. Karen offers some advice.
Following a brief ceremony, participants walked around the park, some even venturing down into the Farmers Market.
A reminder, Wyatt’s Warriors will be holding a “Meats and Beats” event September 20th. You can learn more on our Community Message Board.
