Road Work Beginning Monday on Highway 3

Road work will begin Monday on Highway 3 west of Dubuque.

The Iowa DOT says the work zone will stretch from Boy Scout Road to Sageville. Beginning at 8 am Monday and until mid-November (weather-permitting), crews will start clearing trees and replacing culverts along that route. Shortly after the road is closed, the contractor will be excavating for the culverts at locations one and two.

Local access will not be able to pass these locations. Once the first two locations are passable, then location three will be excavated. Highway 3 will remain open through the winter months.

Marked detour routes will take you south on the Northwest Arterial to U.S. 20, west to Dyersville, then north on Highway 52 to Luxemburg, with local access maintained for residences along the road. In the spring, the same segment of Highway 3 will be closed around April 1st and remain closed all season so the entire roadway can be reconstructed.

The contractor for this $24 million project is Boomerang Corp. of Anamosa. It is the last segment of the Highway 3 corridor reconstruction project.
