Names Released in Fatal Jones County Collision

Authorities have released the names of the two people involved in a fatal collision in Jones County earlier this week.

The crash happened Monday shortly after 8 am on Highway 151 and South Circle Drive on the north side of Anamosa. The Iowa State Patrol says a car failed to yield the right of way to a pickup truck as it entered Highway 151 southbound from Circle Drive. The pickup struck the car on the driver’s side. 

The Iowa State Patrol says the driver of the car, 83-year old Clifford Bickel of Anamosa, died at the scene.

The pickup driver, 59-year old Lynn Strang of Hopkinton, was transported to Jones Regional Medical Center in Anamosa. 

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
