West Delaware is celebrating Homecoming next week.

This year’s dress-up days will include Y2K Day on Monday, Adam Sandler Day on Tuesday, Svare ‘Safari’ Day on Wednesday, Teen Beach Movie Day on Thursday and Spirit Day on Friday. 

The school’s hallways will also be decorated in a Biomes theme, with the freshmen hallway depicting Tundra, sophomores Grassland, juniors Aquatic and seniors Forest. There is no school this Friday, but students are welcome to come decorate the hallways from 8 to 10 am.

Sales for Homecoming dance tickets and buttons will begin Monday and run through the week. The week kicks off Monday with the Powderpuff Volleyball Tournament at 1:15 pm in the Upper Gym. Tuesday brings the Car Bash around 8:30 pm after volleyball in the West Delaware High School teachers’ parking lot. 

During Homecoming next week, Friday’s events will include the K-12 Pep Rally on Brown Field at 12:30 pm. The West Delaware Homecoming Parade starts at 2 pm, with Kris Lenz named as this year’s Grand Marshal. The 2000 West Delaware King and Queen, Tim Woods and Angie Rave Peyton, will be honored as the 25 Year Homecoming Royalty. And last year’s Homecoming King and Queen, Brent Yonkovic and Trudy Loecke, will be honored as well. They’ll be recognized during the parade, as well as after the freshman football game around 6:30 pm – along with this year’s Homecoming and Honor Courts. 

The Homecoming Court was selected by the senior class. This year’s West Delaware Homecoming Court includes: Alaina Bardgett, Jack Cantwell, Jack Georgen, Lauren LeClere, Ben Palas, Lena Petlon, Norah Peyton, Austin Schnieders, Grace Sleper and Ethan Timmerman. And West Delaware seniors who have been selected by the West Delaware High School staff to be on this year’s West Delaware Honor Court: Isabelle Demmer, Madie Deutmeyer, Keaton Emerson, Sophia Hegland, Bridget Heideman, Blake Mather, Trent Menard, Erin Mensen, Reagan Reeder, Kinnick Weis and Lucas Zeiser.

West Delaware will take on the Charles City Comets in this year’s Homecoming football match-ups, with the freshmen game beginning at 5 pm and varsity at 7:30 pm. 

Homecoming week will wrap up next Saturday night, October 11th, with the Homecoming Dance from 8 to 11 pm in the West Delaware High School Commons.
