Backbone State Park Preparing for Winter Season

Another busy camping season has come to an end for Iowa’s state parks – and now staff is preparing for the first freezing temperatures of fall.
Backbone State Park Park Ranger Nate Detrich says their water is all shut off, but the electricity will stay on. This year, since they went 100% same day reservable, Backbone’s campground will be closed to camping from December 1st through March 31st.
However, Detrich says Backbone’s cabins do remain open year-round – and there is still some availability for a weekend getaway. To make a reservation, you can go online to iowastateparks.reserveamerica.com.
