Harvest Nearly Wrapped Up Across Iowa

The harvest is nearly wrapped up across Iowa.
That’s according to Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig, who says that’s based on his observations while traveling around the state, as well as the conversations he’s having with farmers.
That’s in line with the five-year average, which shows Iowa typically has about 98-percent of soybeans and 91-percent of corn harvested by mid-November.
Official numbers from the USDA’s weekly Crop Progress and Condition Report are not available due to the federal government shutdown.
Naig says there was a notable weather shift over the weekend as many parts of the state received the first snowfall of the season, with snow blanketing much of northwest Iowa. Temperatures fell into the teens and low 20s across much of the state, marking the official end of the growing season. Looking ahead, forecasts are calling for warmer weather and an increased chance of rainfall during the second half of November.
