More Residents Using Delaware County Food Bank

More people are using the Delaware County Food Bank these days.
Coordinator Doug Robbins says the food pantry has been seeing an increase in numbers these last three to four months.
Robbins says 2019 was the peak of their highest numbers, with around 400 holiday baskets given – and he says they might top that this year.
They’ve been seeing a lot of people who used the food pantry in the past coming back.
He says Delaware County residents of all ages use the food pantry.
Any Delaware County resident who needs the food pantry’s services should reach out to HACAP.
The Delaware County Food Bank is located in the heart of Manchester, moving a few doors down on South Franklin Street a couple years ago.
The Delaware County Food Bank is open twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays from 11:30 to 2:30. If you’d like to help, you can donate food or make a monetary donation.
There are certain food donations they could especially use, but Robbins says they’ll take nearly anything.
He says monetary donations go a little farther because items can be purchased at a discount from the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.
