First Winter Storm of Season Expected Friday Night into Saturday

Many Iowans will be on the road Thursday for Thanksgiving – and forecasters say it’ll be a cold but sunny travel day.
However, the weather will take a turn on later Friday – and Saturday may be even worse as Iowa is expecting its first winter storm of the season. National Weather Service meteorologist Ashley Bury says a large wintery storm system is looming that could drop several inches of snow.
She says Iowans who are staying home will want to have their snow shovels handy and snowblowers gassed up and ready, while motorists will need to pack snow brushes, ice scrapers and a winter emergency kit in the trunk.
The weather will be turning colder after the winter storm as well, with highs only in the teens by early next week.
