Manchester’s Operation Christmas Child Collection Sets Records

Participation in Operation Christmas Child set a record in Manchester this year.

Over the past week, hundreds of shoeboxes filled with small gifts were dropped off at Manchester Methodist Church. Those shoeboxes will be shipped to children in poverty across the world, in more than one hundred countries.

Local volunteer Stephanie Stocks says they packed 1,059 shoeboxes at the church’s packing party on Saturday – it’s been a goal of theirs to reach 1,000 for a few years now. And they ended up collecting a total of 2,257 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child this year.

Stocks says both of those numbers are records for the church.
