Manchester Community Celebrates Holiday Season with Window Walk

The Window Walk brought the Manchester community together to celebrate the holidays on Thursday night.

The annual event hosted by the Manchester Chamber featured several static parade entries all lit up in lights, including a float from the Delaware County Fairgrounds. Fair Board President Kathy Rahe:

A little further down East Main Street, the historic Castle Theatre was offering free popcorn. Manager Kristy Davis:

Some of the downtown businesses featured live window scenes, with a chance to pet some puppies at Thompson Shoes. There was live music, bonfires, S’mores and hot chocolate, a chance to visit with Santa, and barrel train rides for the kids. And lots of people were stopping to get a photo with one of the Highland Cows, a new addition to the Window Walk this year. Blair Schmitt with Schmitt Cattle Co. south of Manchester says it was their first year at the event.

And with the theme “Home for the Holidays”, there was one parade entry in particular hoping to touch on that sentiment. The Earlville American Legion Post 436 was handing out envelopes with the address of an Earlville area soldier who is currently serving overseas, asking community members to consider mailing him a letter from home this Christmas. Legion Commander Loras Mensen:
