Senator Zumbach Elected New Majority Whip

State Senator Dan Zumbach has been elected to a leadership position for 2026.
Zumbach, a Republican from Ryan, was elected as the new Majority Whip by Senate Republicans on Thursday.
Zumbach is in his fourth term in the Iowa Senate and has served the Republican caucus in numerous capacities, including as a previous assistant Republican leader and an assistant majority leader. He also is currently the vice chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee and the chair of the Transportation Committee.
The majority whip position had been left vacant after Senator Klimesh was elected as the Senate Majority Leader in September. Senator Adrian Dickey, Senator Lynn Evans, Senator Carrie Koelker and Senator Tim Kraayenbrink remain assistant majority leaders.
Senator Zumbach says he is proud to be chosen by his colleagues to support their caucus in this role. He says working with their team of leaders to ensure the caucus is successful is an honor, and he’s looking forward to starting the legislative session and focusing on the important issues ahead of them.
Senate Majority Leader Mike Klimesh says with Senator Zumbach being elected as the new majority whip, he is confident their caucus will continue to be successful as they head into the next legislative session.
