Two Vehicle Accident in Buchanan County Injures Two

The Iowa State Patrol continues its investigation into a two vehicle accident Friday in Buchanan County. According to the initial report. The accident occurred around 5:30 Friday evening. 46-year old Miguel Hernandez Piceno of Independence was traveling southbound on highway 150 near mile marker 47.  36-year old Christopher Gordon Schanbeck of Oelwein was traveling northbound on the same road when Piceno crossed the center line and struck Schanbeck’s vehicle in the rear driver side quarter panel. This caused Schanbeck’s vehicle to roll. Schanbeck suffered broken ribs and was transported to Buchanan County Health Center. Piceno complained of chest pain and was transported to a hospital, as well. No charges have been filed. The accident remains under investigation.
