If you have been shopping recently at the Manchester Fareway, you might have seen it. At the registers, little signs asking if you’d like to help a family in need in Delaware County with the purchase of a bag of food. Well, those bags…that effort…has yielded a big response. Manchester Fareway Manager James Riley tells us more.
Those bags, filled with 20 dollars, 30 dollars or even 50 dollars worth of food are delivered to the Delaware County Food Bank, helping to keep those shelves loaded at a time when more and more Delaware County Residents are turning to the food bank for help. Riley knew his friends and customers would respond, but he admits, he never anticipated this level of giving
While there is still time to contribute to the Delaware County efforts, Riley said they will look beyond the county borders.
Purchasing a bag of food is easy. Just visit with a cashier at the checkouts to make it happen.
