Doug Winkowitsch has spent thirty-one seasons as a high school head football coach in Iowa and has collected 205 victories in the process at three different schools. The current ADM head coach has been selected for induction into the Iowa Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame, as part of the Class of 2025. Coach Winkowitsch is being recognized for his outstanding career and the lasting impact he has made on the student-athletes, programs, and communities he has served. The IFCA Coaches Hall of Fame honors coaches who have demonstrated excellence, leadership, and dedication to the sport of football across the state of Iowa. Beyond wins and championships, Coach Winkowitsch has been instrumental in building a strong program culture rooted in accountability, teamwork, and character with an expecting victory mentality – the standards recognized by the IFCA.

Winkowitsch, the 27th coach in program history at West Delaware, in his 20 seasons beginning in 2004, posted a record of 157-58, with 15 playoff appearances, including a Class 3A state runner-up finish in 2005. The Hawks were semifinalists in 2015 and 2010 – when he was named Class 3A State Coach of the Year and reached the state quarterfinal round six times. Coach Wink is the all-time winningest head coach of the program and only endured one losing season in his time at WD. He has been named district coach of the year 10 times and ranks 10th among active Iowa High School Football head coaches for all-time wins.

The 1989 graduate of Allison-Bristow served as an assistant coach at Gehlen Catholic in LeMars and Hubbard-Radcliffe before taking over as the head coach at Garner-Hayfield in 1995 and staying there for 9 years. Winkowitsch graduated from Westmar College in 1994 and was a     4-year starter on the football team. He and his wife Kara have 6 children – Jack, Trent, Kyle, Miah, Aleah, and Ren.

Coach Winkowitsch will be officially inducted into the IFCA Coaches Hall of Fame on Saturday afternoon February 28th at the Prairie Meadows Events and Conference Center in Altoona, during the IFCA Hall of Fame and Awards Luncheon.
