‘Save Our Churches, Save Our Communities’ Meeting in Dyersville

The Archdiocese of Dubuque is continuing to discuss plans to potentially end Masses at some of our rural small town churches – but there is a local movement aiming to give parishioners more of a voice in the matter.
It’s called “Save Our Churches, Save Our Communities” – and they invite you to their next public meeting on Wednesday night in Dyersville. Local parishioner Wayne Brunsman joined fellow parishioner Dan Goedken to talk about it during our “Guest of the Day” program on KMCH on Friday.
“Save Our Churches, Save Our Communities” is a grass roots group of the faithful in northeast Iowa who are dedicated to protecting the pastoral care of Catholics in the Dubuque Archdiocese. Brunsman says they’re just hoping to gain a better seat at the table in the Journey in Faith process that is underway right now.
Goedken says their local movement all started with a letter to the editor that he submitted to the Dubuque Telegraph Herald in November.
Wednesday night will be their fourth public meeting – and Goedken says they’ve had good attendance at all of them.
Brunsman says there are several ways people can get involved and show their support.
Wednesday night’s “Save Our Churches, Save Our Communities” meeting begins at 7 pm at the Dyersville Social Center at 625 3rd Avenue Southeast (known to many as the old kindergarten building). Everyone is welcome.
