New Dates for Linn County Consideration of Proposed Data Center Ordinance

The Linn County Board of Supervisors has changed the meeting dates for second and third consideration of the proposed data center ordinance for unincorporated Linn County.

Last week, the Board held a public hearing and first consideration for the proposed data center ordinance that would govern data centers in unincorporated areas of the county, outside of city limits. During the meeting, the Board passed the first of three required readings of the proposed ordinance. However, based on public comment during the meeting, the Board asked Planning & Development staff to do additional research prior to the second reading, which could result in amendments to the draft ordinance. Due to the time involved in completing the additional research, they postponed the dates for second and third consideration one week.

The new dates are:

  • Monday, February 16th at 10 am for the Second Consideration
  • Wednesday, February 18th at 10 am for the Third Consideration

Both meetings will take place in the Linn County Jean Oxley Public Service Center in Cedar Rapids. The public can attend in person or virtually.
