A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Delaware, Dubuque and Buchanan counties.
The Winter Storm Warning, which replaces the Winter Weather Advisory, will be in effect from 9 pm tonight through 9 am Friday.
The National Weather Service says total snow accumulations between four and eight inches is predicted, with winds gusting as high as 40 miles per hour. Drifting and blowing snow can be expected.
Travel could be very difficult, with the hazardous conditions potentially impacting the Friday morning commute. The National Weather Service says travel should be delayed if possible. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution and be prepared for sudden changes in visibility.
A Winter Storm Warning is also in effect for Clayton and Fayette counties from 8 pm tonight through 9 am Friday, with 4 to 6 inches of snow predicted. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Jones and Linn counties, with 2 to 4 inches of snow expected.
