Lamont Man Arrested for Urinating in Aurora Post Office Lobby

A Lamont man has been arrested for allegedly urinating in the lobby of the Aurora Post Office.

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office says deputies took 61-year old James Howard Robinson into custody on Saturday morning.

According to a complaint, Robinson is accused of allegedly urinating on the floor in the lobby of the Aurora Post Office over a dozen times since last September. The U.S. Postal Inspector’s Office notified the Sheriff’s Office last week and shared with them surveillance video footage of the most recent incident. The footage shows Robinson entering the Aurora Post Office on Tuesday, February 3rd shortly before 5 am to retrieve mail from his mailbox – and then walk over to a counter along the north wall of the lobby, where he appears to urinate.

When a deputy asked Robinson about the incidents, he admitted to the most recent one, but not the others. Robinson said he didn’t have an issue with the Post Office or Postmaster, but just couldn’t “hold it” any longer. However, the deputy noted the video did not show a sense of urgency from Robinson.

The Postal Service did not indicate any permanent damage, but staff have spent time cleaning up the lobby floor.

Robinson has been charged with Fifth Degree Criminal Mischief.
