Delaware County Pork Producers Pie Contest Set For This Saturday

There’s still time to heat up the oven and bake up a winner as the Delaware County Pork Producers are hosting once again their Annual pie baking contest, auction and meal this Saturday at the Fairgrounds Pavilion in Manchester. Any baker can participate in the Pie contest, with one main rule, bake it with lard.
That’s Pork Producer member Shirley Helmrichs. One of the oldest fundraisers of the commodity communities, the Pie Contest brings to the table plenty of family favorites.
Bakers are asked to bring their creations, baked in disposable containers, to the pavilion between 4 and 6 Saturday. At 6:30, a meal prepared by the Bread Basket will be served.
The cost of the meals is $18 for adults, $6 for kids 10 and under. Another tradition of the night is the crowning of little royalty. Three worthy candidates will be seeking crowns.
Prize money will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th place winners. The pies will then be auctioned off, with the proceeds being used for a number of Pork Producer projects.
If you have any questions, contact Shirley Helmrich or visit the Delaware County Pork Producers Facebook page.
