Thursday’s Severe Weather Threat Should Stay Southeast

Severe weather is a possibility today, but forecasters say the main threat should stay off to our southeast.

The National Weather Service has placed Delaware County and the surrounding counties in the KMCH listening area under a Level 0 out of 5 threat, with Level 1 (Marginal Risk) covering Iowa City and the Quad Cities and a Level 2 (Slight Risk) and Level 3 (Moderate Risk) into southeast Iowa and parts of Illinois.

Scattered strong to severe storms are possible late this afternoon and evening, mainly over west-central Illinois into southeast Iowa and northeast Missouri.

Temperatures will be dropping from the 70s the last couple days into the 40s on Friday – though we’ll see a rebound into the 70s next Monday and Tuesday, with more rain chances next week too.
