Guttenberg Man Arrested for Harassment & Impersonating Public Official

A Guttenberg man has been arrested for harassment and impersonating a public official.

Garnavillo Police say they received a complaint from a local resident of an ongoing harassment issue in February. The resident reported they were receiving unwanted and alarming contact from a man who lived in Guttenberg. The police department contacted the man and warned him that any further contact would result in criminal charges.

The resident contacted police again in late March and provided proof that the unwanted contact had started again. During the course of the investigation, police also determined that the man had contacted an individual by phone and pretended to be a law enforcement officer conducting a “welfare check” so he could find out the whereabouts of a female.

The Guttenberg Police Department arrested 55-year old Vincent Morabito of Guttenberg on Tuesday and transported him to the Clayton County Jail.

Morabito was charged by Garnavillo Police with 3rd Degree Harassment and Impersonating a Public Official. A no-contact order was also issued as a result of the charges.
