Car Drives Through Front of Garnavillo Mini Mart

A car drove through the front of a Garnavillo gas station on Tuesday night.

The accident happened at the Mini Mart Gas Station at 608 South Main Street shortly before 7 pm. The Garnavillo Police Department says a car was attempting to park in the parking lot when the driver inadvertently pressed the accelerator instead of the brake – causing the car to accelerate through the front of the business. The car was being driven by a juvenile on an instruction permit, who was in the presence of their parent/guardian.

No injuries were reported by those inside the car nor the patrons or staff inside the gas station.

The Garnavillo Police Department thanks the quick response of the Garnavillo Fire Department/First Responders and the Guttenberg Ambulance Service. Police were assisted on scene by deputies with the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.
