Onslow Awarded Federal Funds for Water System Improvements

The City of Onslow is receiving federal funds for water system improvements.

U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley welcomes an announcement that the USDA will provide nearly $2.5 million in federal funds to the City of Onslow to support improvements to the water system and resolve water and sanitation issues. 

“I’m glad to see this investment coming to Onslow to support water system improvements,” Grassley said. “This USDA funding will help protect the health and safety of rural Iowans. In the Senate, I’ll keep working to ensure our state gets the funding needed to keep our communities strong.”

The funds will come in the form of a grant worth $1.5 million, with a loan in the amount of $965,000.

Grassley’s office says this Rural Development investment will be used to help the city of Onslow improve its water system. The project will construct a well and a booster station, install a backup power source and add water mains to increase pressure and remove dead ends. These improvements will help resolve water and sanitation issues. Once completed, the project will better safeguard the health of residents and visitors of this rural Jones County community in Iowa.
