Semi Collides with Tractor in Fayette County

A semi collided with a tractor in Fayette County on Monday afternoon.

It happened about one mile west of Waucoma on White Tail Road next X Avenue around 1:15 pm. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says 40-year old Adam Douglas Kleiss of Fredericksburg was eastbound with his tractor and planter. When he tried making a left-hand turn northbound onto a gravel road, his tractor was hit by a semi.

Kleiss’ tractor ended up in the ditch. The semi went into the north ditch, crossing the roadway and ending up in the south ditch with the trailer blocking both lanes of traffic. Both the semi and tractor were totaled.

Authorities say the semi, which was hauling a utility trailer, had attempted to pass multiple farm vehicles at the same time. The semi driver, 61-year old Bryan Keith Varney of Dows, was cited for Unsafe Passing.

Neither driver was injured.
