Two Arrested for Stealing from Manchester Business Vehicle

Two people have been arrested for stealing from a vehicle at a Manchester business.

Manchester Police say shortly after midnight on Tuesday morning, their department was contacted about two suspicious people near a commercial vehicle near Corcoran Furniture.

Officers responded and found a catalytic converter missing off a Corcoran delivery truck. Police issued a “Be On the Lookout” and the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office assisted, with authorities finding the vehicle trying to leave town.

36-year old Chelsey Schmidt and 50-year old Jeffrey Schmidt, both of Savanna, Illinois, were found with the stolen converter in their vehicle. The pair was arrested and transported to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.

Police say an investigation is ongoing and more charges could follow.
